WHO WAS
JABARI?

Jabari Latrell Peoples—
Loved, Ambitious, and Taken Too Soon.
Jabari Latrell Peoples was an 18-year-old college student from Aliceville, Alabama. He was bright, respectful, funny, and full of dreams. His passion, charm, and warmth lit up every room.
He had goals. He had family. He had purpose.
On the night of June 23, 2025, Jabari was sitting in a car at Homewood Soccer Complex when he was approached by police investigating what they called a “suspicious vehicle.” Officers claimed they smelled marijuana, ordered the occupants to exit, and alleged that Jabari produced a handgun during a struggle. He was shot once and died shortly after at UAB Hospital.
But his family tells a very different story.
They say Jabari was unarmed, cooperative, and was shot within seconds of exiting the vehicle—by officers in an unmarked car with no lights or sirens. Witnesses say Jabari was shot in the back and that no weapon was ever present. To make matters worse, his parents were never contacted. They found out about his death through the media.
This site was created to tell the truth, demand justice, and honor the life of Jabari Peoples.

What We’re Fighting For
Justice & Transparency

We are calling on the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) to immediately release:
-
All body-worn camera footage
-
The complete incident report
-
The names of the officers involved

The family, legal team, and supporters will not rest until the full truth is brought to light.
We are also demanding:
An independent investigation
Legal accountability for excessive force
A national dialogue about police reform and racial justice
